I'm a 3D printing enthusiast living in Lynchburg, Va. I take commissions for various kinds of design work related to 3D printing. Some of the things I might do on commission include:
-Printing a copy of a 3D file you made or found from sources such as Thingiverse, Printables, etc.
-Creating a 3D model of your design and printing it.
-Making replacement parts for your repair needs
-Making costume props or pieces

Requesting a commission
🔷Fill out the form above with your request. I will follow up via email.
🔷Unless otherwise agreed upon, I retain the rights for any 3D models I create in the process of fulfilling your commission. Please let me know upfront if you want to buy the rights to the model. If you have any questions about rights, feel free to ask before submitting a request.
Payment
🔷Depending on the scope of the project, payment (partial or in full) may be requested upfront. I will communicate my expectations for payment when I give you a quote.
🔷Payments can be made over Paypal or Venmo. I will send the invoice to you. Local clients may be able to pay cash.
Limitations
🔷3D printed items are not recommended for dishes, plates, cups, utensils, etc. This is because the small ridges can harbor bacteria very easily. A 3D print can only be made truly food safe by coating it with a food safe epoxy.
🔷3D printed items should not be exposed to high temperatures. PLA filament (most commonly used) can melt or warp in high temperatures. Car interior temperatures during summer can get high enough to melt and warp PLA. If your print is going to stay in your car or otherwise may face high temperatures, please let me know so I can use a filament with more heat resistance.
🔷With my current printer, the maximum size for a solid print piece is 8.85 cubic inches. Anything larger will be printed in separate pieces.
🔷As an individual printer, have limited capacity for bulk orders. If you need over 100 copies of an item, consider finding a 3D printing company or alternate methods of manufacturing.
🔷Looking for miniatures for tabletop games? Unfortunately, my printers are not suitable for the typical size and detail of human-like miniatures. Larger miniatures work fine though. Seek out an individual or company that owns a resin printer if you want figures for your human-sized characters.

Because the time, materials, and labor needed for various 3D printing projects will vary greatly, each project will require an individual quote. Here are the guidelines for how I price these kinds of projects, for full transparency. Check the Examples section as well, I will explain costs for each example. All commissions start at a $8 base price, with the following factors increasing the cost. This base price factors in the minimum amount of labor it takes for me to produce any given print.

Print Costs
The factors involved in pricing just the print itself
Material and Energy Costs: Filament itself costs about $0.03 per gram. Energy costs generally account to about $0.01 per hour.General Print Cost: To account for the wear and tear, and to pay for future maintenance, I charge $0.80 per hour of print time.

Labor Costs
Paying for my time and expertise
Basic Labor: $15/h. This includes the simpler aspects of the labor needed to produce a print, like prepping the printer and file, as well as simple post processing.Post Processing and/or Design Work: $30/h. This includes things like creating 3D models from scratch, detailing or painting 3D prints, or complex assembly of multi-part prints.

Other CostsHardware: If your print needs hardware like magnets, keychain rings, earring hooks, etc, and they are materials I have on hand, I can include them at cost.Filament and Paint requests: If you'd like me to print in a specific filament or paint it a certain color, I may require upfront payment to acquire those items. Let's discuss these costs of a case by case basis.

Below are some items I've printed and what I would charge to have them printed if they were commissioned projects.

Articulated Dragon - $20

Model by McGybeer
This is a print that takes about 13 hours when printed at full size (18 inches). There's barely any labor involved in printing these, so no basic labor costs apply in this case.
